We come across kids all the time. Whether it through our churches, our neighborhoods, or through our own kids, having a fun, captivating and creative way to share the Gospel of Christ with them can sometimes be life changing. Children are impressionable, and if you give them something to remember, they may never forget the message. And there is no better message than the gospel. Below are 3 creative ways to evangelize to children.
1. Wordless Book – In 1866 Charles Spurgeon created the Wordless book. Originally, it comprised of only 3 pages with each page being a color that represented a different state. Black represented sin & fallen man. Red represented the Blood of Christ & His work on the cross. White represented the cleansing power of Christ’s sacrifice. Since then, 2 other colors have been added to the book; gold to represent heaven and green to represent a growing relationship with Jesus. This is a really easy tool to create. All you need is 3 (or 5) different color sheets of paper to turn into a ‘Wordless book”. For steps on how to create a Wordless book, click here.
2. Paper Airplane to Cross – This presentation is an extremely cool way to share the gospel. All you’ll need is some paper and scissors. The presentation starts with you building a basic paper airplane along with quoting some Bible scripture, and explaining Christ’ work on the cross. Then you transform that paper airplane into a cross. What’s really awesome about this presentation is that kids tend to want to learn how to do it themselves so that they can show their friends. So not only are you sharing the gospel with kids, you’re also equipping them with a fun way to share the gospel with other children.
3. Animated Bible Tract – Kids love colorful books & enticing stories. It doesn’t matter if it’s for bedtime, in the car, at church, or wherever. You can always captivate a child’s attention with something animated. Let the Little Children Come has created a series of animated tracts. I could try to describe how cool these tracts are. But, I thought it would be better just to show you a video.
Children are our future. If we don’t take the time to come up with creative resources to teach them about Christ, when we are all too old to take care of ourselves or to preach to the nations, the world could be in jeopardy and a huge percent of the young adults could be lost.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
– Proverbs 22:6
Jesus spoke up for the kids because they are just as important as college students, adults, and people on their death beds.
Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.
– Matthew 19:13-15
